This specialist team led by a designated doctor and designated nurse for Croydon's looked after children - children who experience similar health issues as their peers but to a greater extent, and come into care. Their challenges can be due to the life events they have encountered in their journey to being placed by the local authority.
The Looked After Children's Health Team and the local authority work closely together to adhere to their statutory duties to safeguard and promote the health and wellbeing of looked after children and young people 0-18 years, ensuring that health needs are highlighted and addressed and outcomes improved.
The team coordinate and quality-check the delivery of statutory health assessments for children looked after by Croydon Council as well as delivering direct care.
The team also offer training for multidisciplinary teams to support these children in achieving the best health outcomes.
The service is based at Bernard Weatherill House in central Croydon and is delivered in the community.
