Woodside Bereavement Service was established to provide bereavement counselling to families living in the Croydon area experiencing severe or prolonged shock or depression arising from bereavement and loss.
Our service is available free to Croydon residents affected by loss, regardless of race, colour, nationality, belief, age, gender, status, sexual orientation or physical disability.
For families grieving the loss of a loved one through suicide, we accept referrals from residents outside the Croydon area.
Our counsellors are all volunteers who have been trained as bereavement counsellors. They come from every part of the borough and from multi-cultural backgrounds, and each has different experiences of life.
Counselling is provided on a one-to-one basis, helping clients through their period of mourning and encouraging acceptance of loss and readjustment. The service also serves to educate and increase the awareness of the nature of grief and bereavement.
