Gresham 1

Gresham Ward 1 is part of Bethlem Royal Hospital. We offer services for women, aged 16-65, who have acute mental illness and require 24 hour hospital care. Acute illnesses start quickly and have distressing symptoms.

It is staffed by a multidisciplinary team who aim to work in partnership with women to help them to recover from acute mental health problems. There is a therapeutic individual and group programme which runs alongside an activity programme that is based upon what women service users have said they find helpful. Gresham 1 links directly with Foxley Lane women’s service and women who are admitted to Gresham 1 informally can request to continue their inpatient care at Foxley Lane, this will be accommodated wherever possible.
