Many women users of services prefer to receive in-patient treatment in a single sex unit. The Patient’s Charter states that, except in emergencies, you have the right to be told before you go into hospital whether it is planned to care for you in a ward for men and women. In all cases you can expect single sex bathing and toilet facilities. If you would prefer to be cared for in single sex accommodation the Charter states that your wishes will be respected wherever possible. Croydon now have a women-only ward at the Bethlem Royal Hospital on Gresham One. This service is managed as the 'Women's Service' by the newly appointed 'Women's Lead' for Croydon In-patient Services.
