Women who have had serious mental health problems following the birth of a child can be referred by their GP for an out-patient appointment to a consultant psychiatrist, based at Tamworth Road Resource Centre, who specialises in helping with such problems. There are also specialist community psychiatric nurses. If in-patient treatment is required admission can be arranged to the Mother and Baby Unit at Bethlem Royal Hospital.
