All mental health services in Croydon are provided by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM). SLaM provides the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK and also provide substance misuse services for people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. Their services include the Maudsley Hospital and Bethlem Royal Hospital and they work closely with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London.
SLaM have about 4,800 staff and serve a local population of 1.1 million people. They have more than 230 services including inpatient wards, outpatient and community services. They provide inpatient care for approximately 5,300 people each year and treat more than 45,000 patients in the community in Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Croydon.
